Privacy policy
Who controls your data
JAGAT IT UK LTD, trading as CarCoverCheck UK, is the data controller for the information you give us. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 17474995. Our registered office address is in the Terms.
What we collect
A check needs only the vehicle registration you type in. If you choose to set up a renewal reminder we also collect your email address and your renewal date. We do not ask for your phone number, and we do not collect payment details. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Using the registration, we retrieve public MOT and vehicle data from the DVSA MOT History API and store a short-lived copy so repeat checks of the same vehicle do not hit the service again.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use the registration to show you the public MOT record for the vehicle. We use your email only to send the single reminder you asked for, about three weeks before your renewal date. Our lawful basis for the reminder is your consent, which you give by submitting the reminder form. You can withdraw consent at any time using the one-click unsubscribe link in the email.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to insurers. We use a small number of processors to run the service: Resend to deliver our emails, and a PostgreSQL database on our own UK hosted server to store your reminder. When you click through to a comparison site you leave our site and that site's own privacy policy applies; we do not hand your form details to them.
How long we keep it
We keep your reminder until twelve months after the renewal date, or thirty days after you unsubscribe, whichever comes first. Cached DVSA data is refreshed or discarded within seven days. If you unsubscribe we stop emailing you and flag the record as unsubscribed. Ask us to delete your data and we will.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these, email support@jagatitlimited.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
